About Keenan

Keenan McKenzie plays saxophone and clarinet at dance events across the country, frequently appearing with Michael Gamble and The Rhythm Serenaders, The Mint Julep Jazz Band, and The Jonathan Stout Orchestra.

Keenan McKenzie

A busy composer/transcriber, he also reconstructed many of the Chick Webb, Jimmie Lunceford, and Lionel Hampton charts for Heritage Sounds.

His debut album, Forged in Rhythm, features 15 new swing tunes that have been used for classes, competitions, and routines around the world.

This project inspired him to form Keenan McKenzie and the Riffers, a dance band built around original material and tight arrangements from the 1930s and 1940s.

Based in Durham, North Carolina, Keenan maintains a full roster of private students and teaches saxophone at NC State University.

About The Album
