Gordon Webster is probably one of the most popular musicians and bandleaders among the swing dance community.
And he is busy!
But this time, it's not only about him. It's also about a British/Australian singer who is the initiator of this project.
Hetty Kate – described by herself
Vintage voiced Hetty Kate is a British/Australian singer who’s been singing in Melbourne since 2006 and since then has spent time traveling all over the globe performing with all sorts of jazz bands for all sorts of people.
A self confessed raconteur she's a natural born story-teller, swings hard, and loves a clever lyric and a syncopated beat. She’s survived rabid Frenchmen whilst singing in Hanoi, she’s survived rabid monkeys whilst singing in Darjeeling, she’s survived rabid musicians whilst singing in Melbourne.
Hetty’s now back living in Australia and sings with her own bands, as well as regularly guesting with some toe-tapping combo's around the country. Often compared to a young Peggy Lee or Doris Day, she loves to swing and sing for a packed dance-floor!
Project Description By Gordon & Hetty
Would you like to dance?
We’re asking for your help to raise money to make a sparkling album of glorious swing jazz that will get you smiling and dancing!
This will be a continuation of the fun that happened when we got to play with each other in Canberra this year, and it will be a thank you to the lovely dancers that make this music even more special than it already is.
Gordon Webster meets Hetty Kate, America meets Australia, along the lines of Peggy Lee and George Shearing.. you get the drift.
We want this to sound beautiful, look beautiful, and be something you can dance to and enjoy in your record collection for years to come.
Support The Campaign
