If you're an European dancer or a travelling dancer then you may already know the Magic Shook Heads from Studio Summer Camp 2011, European Swing Dance Championships 2012 or other events.
Some of the members are part of another band.
Bolden Buddies Little Big Band
The Bolden Buddies Little Big Band was founded in 2011 by 12 musicians from the orchestras Magic Shook Heads, Blue Goose and Canibal Dandies. They are based in Montpellier France.
The line-up (including saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, guitar, banjo, drums, double bass, sousaphone and singers) allow them to play the original big band arrangements of the 1920s and 1930s by Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson, King Oliver and many others.
Beside that, they also like playing collective improvisation in the traditional New Orleans style.
Funding Campaign For Their First CD
Crowd funding has become a great way to pre-finance all kind of projects and many bands are taking advantage of that.
Also the Bolden Buddies are looking for backers to fund their first CD.
Contribution starts at €10, if you choose the second option of €15 (ca. US $20) then you get the CD in advance.
Why Fund The Project
The band needs at least EUR €2000 (ca. US $2670). The money is used to pay:
- €600 for the reproduction rights to SDRM
- €1200 for the production of 1000 CDs including booklet
- €200 for the graphic designer of the CD cover
If they surpass the goal of €2000, then they wish to finance a work residence to compose new tunes.
