This is another song where Johnny Green was envolved and which exists in many different versions. One of my favorites is Bill Coleman‘s recording from 1936.

“Coquette” is a jazz standard from 1928 and was composed by Johnny Green and Carmen Lombardo with lyrics by Gus Kahn.

The first notable recordings were from the same year:

1. Guy Lombardo & his Royal Canadians (vocal Carmen Lombardo) recorded on March 21, 1928 and released on Columbia 1345-D
2. Paul Whiteman & his Orchestra recorded on March 2, 1928 and released on Victor 21301.
