There is not much information available about Al Cooper, and I even couldn't find a proper image, but what we still have is his great music!
Second Balcony Jump
Al Cooper
Al Cooper (1911-1981) was a alto saxophonist, clarinetist and bandleader.
Early in his career, he played at the 101 Club on Lenox Avenue in New York and some other clubs in New Jersey and Pleasantville.
He was best known for being the leader and founding member of The Savoy Sultans, the house band at Harlem's Savoy Ballroom from 1937-1946.
The Savoy Sultans, an octet, sometimes a nonet, was known for a infectiously swinging style.
